The all new PC238USLC-11 hydraulic excavator was revealed a few days ago by the leading global heavy equipment manufacturer, Komatsu America Corp. This new excavator promises to deliver four percent higher productivity when compared to the previous model, and comes with an EPA Tier 4 Final certified engine, a new viscous fan clutch, and lower engine parasitic loads. Additionally, a heavy counterweight mass and rounded cab are what give the new excavator better true tight tail swing performance and lift capacity than its predecessor.

Volvo knows that the smallest of changes in design can make a huge difference in machine durability, and they are so confident in the design of their excavators that they are now extending their Lifetime Frame and Structure Warranty to all of their wheeled and high-reach demolition excavators. New models that will be covered by the warranty include the EC380EHR and EC480EHR high-reach demolition excavators, and the EW180E, EW160E and EW60E wheeled models. Additionally, four new wheeled excavators that are being unveiled in Spring of 2018 will also be covered.

Volvo Construction has taken the H-Series wheel loader and made it better with their newest update, adding the latest technology to an already proven machine. The update includes next-generation OptiShift and new load-sensing hydraulics and transmissions, which in turn provides faster cycle times and increased fuel efficiency. The H-Series 2.0 Update is currently available for the L150H, L180H and L220H, as well as the recently launched L260H, and additional models are soon to follow suit.

Exciting news for John Deere this week, as the GOOD DESIGN Award for design excellence and innovation has been presented to John Deere for their 310 articulated dump truck, (or ADT). Consistent design look and sturdy proportions for the 310 ADT contributed to the overall decision. The awards program is presented by the Chicago Athenaeum Museum of Architecture and Design, and aims to showcase the most innovative and cutting-edge industrial, product, and graphic designs worldwide.

The new John Deere 344L compact wheel loader is equipped with smooth auto-shift technology designed for increased speed and enhanced performance in ag material handling, landscaping, snow removal and construction operations at larger job sites. The Articulation Plus steering system on the 344L aims to allow operators to lift more during turns. Its design also features an articulated frame plus rear-wheel steer, providing a tighter turning radius along with improved stability and additional lift capacity.

The new John Deere G-Series mid-frame skid steers and compact track loader (CTL) will be showcased at the 2018 World of Concrete in Las Vegas. The new mid-frame models have a 69–74 (52–55 kW) horsepower range to deliver increased performance and higher pushing power. All three models are capable of loading a 10-foot (3 m) sidewall dump truck or hopper. To help operators reach new heights in a medium-sized package, the 324G skid steer and 325G CTL feature  a height-to-hinge pin of 10 feet, 6 inches (3.20 m). Meanwhile, optional ride control and bucket self-level combination reduce material spillage and make for a smoother ride over rough and uneven terrain.

The models were unveiled at the 2018 World of Concrete event being held in Las Vegas. The new Charger truck is lighter, shorter, and offers the same tight turning radius characteristics of traditional Terex Advance front discharge mixers to meet the expectations of concrete producers delivering concrete in densely populated cities.

The new DD110C, featuring a 66-inch drum and 24,350-pound operating weight, is Volvo’s latest rollout of highway-class double drum compactor, rounding out the series which already includes the recently introduced DD120C (79-inch) and DD140C (84-inch) models. Similarly to these two larger compactors, the DD110C is outfitted with state of the art, industry-unique technologies that improve productivity and uptime, including Compact Assist with Density Direct, the industry’s only Intelligent Compaction (IC) system that displays real-time density calculations.

As of January 1, 2018, Caterpillar has extended its full-machine warranty for skid steer loaders, compact track loaders, multi-terrain loaders, and mini excavators. The warranty aims to provide more peace of mind to buyers by remaining valid for 24 months or 2,000 hours after the original purchase. This applies to any new machines sold at authorized Cat dealers in the US and Canada.

John Deere has recently expanded its Worksite Pro attachments series with its new RB72, RB84 and RB96 rollout buckets. The latter two of the models are both optimized for K-Series Compact Wheel Loaders and G-Series Compact Track Loaders, and can reach an extra 34 inches further when fully extended. Each model is best matched to the attachment of the machine, and switching between attachments is easier than ever before.

The new AFW 150-2 Mini Paver by Ammann can pave at widths as narrow as 250 mm and up to 1650 mm. This three-wheeled machine’s fixed hopper can be side-loaded with a skid steer. It also features an optional hopper insert to make loading easier.

Ammann is releasing 17 new models of asphalt pavers in three major size groups, with tracked and wheeled versions available. They will be available in compact pavers including the mini paver, city pavers, and large pavers. Screed options include tamping/vibrating, high-compaction and rigid-frame.
