Heavy Equipment Transportation and Shipping Companies

Find heavy equipment shipping quotes for local or international transport services with this list of specialized trucking companies!

After purchasing a large piece of heavy equipment, transport companies are responsible for bringing it to the buyer’s address. Unlike regular transportation companies, specialized trucking companies have heavy equipment hauling permits, trailers, insurance and expertise that’s needed to make sure your purchase arrives on time and in the same condition as when it left the seller.

You can contact these heavy equipment transport companies by phone or by clicking the Get Shipping Quotes button (conveniently located on each listing) to compare shipping quotes on:

How are Shipping Quotes Calculated?

Whether you are dealing with a national or international transport company, all of them use the same basic criteria when formulating shipping quotes:

  • Specifications

If an item is tall or weighs a lot, then sometimes additional permits, equipment and planning logistics are required, which could affect the shipping total. Tip: Sending them pictures or a link to the sales listing will give them the same amount of information that you have.

  • Final Destination

Longer routes obviously have higher fuel costs. Some routes have higher tolls and the more rural routes will have less options to get around them.

What to Look for in Heavy Equipment Transport Companies

Specialized trucking companies should always have...

  • Positive reviews

Check with the Better Business Bureau and other common public review sites to get a better feel for the company, and ask them directly for references.

  • Credentials

Make sure they have a USDOT number and an authority to operate (MC) number from the US Department of Transportation, along with any necessary permits to be street legal.

  • Insurance

Is their insurance coverage at a bare minimum? If so, do they offer additional insurance options for more, or will you have to get more insurance from a third party?

  • Special Equipment

Specialized trucking companies will have drop deck / step deck trailers and lowboy trailers to carry even the largest commercial equipment with ease.

Transporting heavy equipment like bulldozers requires special blade guards. This protects the blade’s edges so that it won’t have to be removed during transportation, but they typically have to be legally registered with the state.

  • Delivery Time

A longer haul could mean your purchase goes through multiple transfers, increasing the likelihood of damage. You want a fast delivery with as few transfer points as possible, but at the same time, be wary of incredibly fast delivery promises, as these companies may be in too much of a hurry to make sure your investment is not damaged.
