Singapore will be hosting an all-in-one tradeshow platform that will cover the entire built environment value chain on September 4th-6th of 2019 in order to meet the precarious and more urgent needs of Asia-Pacific’s built environment industry. Organized by the Building Construction Authority of Singapore, the International Built Environment Week, or IBEW, of 2019 will feature four dynamic tradeshows that have been specifically curated to showcase the industry’s technological mastery. These showcases aim to ultimately accelerate the industry’s metamorphosis into a smart, efficient, and sustainable built environment that can focus on fostering people-first cities.

The Solid Waste Association of North America (SWANA) is hosting WASTECON 2019 in Phoenix, Arizona, the fifth-largest city in the United States this October 21-24th. The event serves to cultivate the development of a circular economy as well as job creation within the solid waste industry, as well as plan for sustainable futures within communities. With a population of nearly two million people, this hotbed of creativity, also known as the innovation district or the PHX Core, is the perfect place to bring together startups, business incubators, accelerators, entrepreneurs, and universities for a week of learning, networking, and fun. 

This year’s African Construction Expo, taking place June 11-13th, represents a beacon of hope for the South African construction industry. Given the country’s recent recession, which didn’t bode well for the industry as a whole, a new stimulus plan put in place by the South African government might just be construction’s saving grace. This makes this year’s expo all the more important, with opportunities for construction professionals to come together, network, and brainstorm new solutions for a future of growth and expansion.

The Volvo Group is grabbed everyone’s attention at this year’s Bauma 2019 in Munich, Germany, with Volvo CE, Volvo Penta, Volvo Trucks, and Volvo Financial Services all ready to take the stage in a collaborative effort to offer a package of integrated products and services. The dedication of the Volvo Group to helping solve construction’s toughest demands based on shared market-leading knowledge was a perfect fit with the theme of this year’s expo: Building Tomorrow. Volvo CE even unveiled its first compact electric excavator and wheel loader as a step forward in their industry-first pledge to produce electric compact machines by 2020.

John Deere will be displaying their construction equipment at Bauma for the first time this year, April 8-14th. Set to be exhibiting a select fourteen machines, the exhibition will be held at the Wirtgen Group booth. Amongst the equipment will be motor graders intended be sold via the French sales and service company Wirtgen France SAS, as well as Wirtgen Group’s German sales and service companies, which John Deere acquired in December of 2017.

The Executive Mayor of Johannesburg, Herman Mashaba, has openly invited South African and international construction firms to transform the inner city in order to unlock new economic potential for small to medium-sized contractors, as well as other local disadvantaged groups. This inner city revitalization project, championed by Mashaba, is also known as the “84 properties initiative”. Hosting the African Construction Expo and the co-located Totally Concrete Expo will be the city’s first initiative in attracting investors and growing awareness.

WasteExpo, North America’s largest solid waste, recycling and organics industry event, is happening May 6-9, 2019, in Las Vegas. Over the past 50 years, WasteExpo has helped usher in more significant industry innovations than any other—and the future looks even more promising.

2019’s 11th International Fair of Road Transport - Commercial Vehicles ROTRA is drawing near, taking place this May 14-16th in Targi Kielce, Poland. You’ll want to save the date for this “everything about road transport” expo. The event has been assembled specifically for the market producers of utility vehicles, helping them to meet the ever-growing demands and needs of their clients.

Despite the appearance of rain, sleet, and snow, this year’s World of Asphalt Show & Conference and AGG1 Academy & Expo hit record attendance numbers with 10,063 people registered - a 28 percent increase over last year’s attendance in Houston. With attendees from all 50 states making appearances, as well as all 10 Canadian provinces, the state of Indiana alone saw over 1500 people coming to the expo. International attendance increased 10 percent as well, with delegations as far as Nigeria and Russia making their way to the trade show that was held in Indianapolis on February 12-14th.
