The Executive Mayor of Johannesburg, Herman Mashaba, has openly invited South African and international construction firms to transform the inner city in order to unlock new economic potential for small to medium-sized contractors, as well as other local disadvantaged groups. This inner city revitalization project, championed by Mashaba, is also known as the “84 properties initiative”. Hosting the African Construction Expo and the co-located Totally Concrete Expo will be the city’s first initiative in attracting investors and growing awareness.

WasteExpo, North America’s largest solid waste, recycling and organics industry event, is happening May 6-9, 2019, in Las Vegas. Over the past 50 years, WasteExpo has helped usher in more significant industry innovations than any other—and the future looks even more promising.

2019’s 11th International Fair of Road Transport - Commercial Vehicles ROTRA is drawing near, taking place this May 14-16th in Targi Kielce, Poland. You’ll want to save the date for this “everything about road transport” expo. The event has been assembled specifically for the market producers of utility vehicles, helping them to meet the ever-growing demands and needs of their clients.

Despite the appearance of rain, sleet, and snow, this year’s World of Asphalt Show & Conference and AGG1 Academy & Expo hit record attendance numbers with 10,063 people registered - a 28 percent increase over last year’s attendance in Houston. With attendees from all 50 states making appearances, as well as all 10 Canadian provinces, the state of Indiana alone saw over 1500 people coming to the expo. International attendance increased 10 percent as well, with delegations as far as Nigeria and Russia making their way to the trade show that was held in Indianapolis on February 12-14th.

Manitou North America is holding an exclusive meet and greet event with the IndyCar Series Driver and Manitou Ambassador, Graham Rahal, on February 18th from 12-4pm. Liebherr will be attending Buama 2019 this year, and the presentation they have prepared is sure to be an earth-shattering event. Not only will they be hosting daily shows and an innovation lab where attendees can stop by to see their latest future-focused technologies, but Liebherr will also be showcasing INTUSI, their adaptive and intuitive new solution for machine communications. Specialists will also be able preview a package of multiple intelligent assistance systems for XPower wheel loaders, in addition to a new generation of mobile and crawler excavators, like the R 934 and the A 913 Compact Litronic.

The 12th Annual International Biomass Conference & Expo is quickly approaching, set to take place this March 18-20th in in Savannah, Georgia at the Savannah International Trade & Convention Center. Biomass Magazine and BBI International, who are both producing the event, have recently announced the the three-day agenda, which will be organized into four distinct divisions: pellets & densified biomass, biomass power & thermal, biogas & waste-to-energy, and advanced biofuels & biobased chemicals. There will also be a full-day, pre-conference event on the 18th detailing the latest advancements in material handling, titled the Biomass Preparation, Handling and Storage Workshop, taking place before the evening opening reception in the expo hall.

This year’s SIMA trade show is upholding the integrity of their theme, “Innovation for competitive agriculture”, by featuring two spaces at their upcoming 2019 expo, February 24th-28th. The spaces will offer 34 growing companies and innovators the chance to showcase their farming related tech and services. The first space will be located in hall 4 and dedicated to Start-up Villages in partnership with La Ferme Digitale, and the second space will be in hall 6 and devoted to the Innovation Village.

Liebherr is proud to announce that they will be presenting all of their latest product developments and innovations at this year’s Bauma 2019, held April 8-14th. The company is hoping to further the growth that is already reflected by the high demand for their products and services, and is excited for the innovations on display to play a key part in that. Liebherr will be showcasing their range of construction machines, material handling and mining machines, and various components at their 14,000 square meter outdoor stand, as well as their indoor stand in hall A4, number 326.

Going green is seemingly becoming less of a fad and more of a habit, with high-level summits like this year’s first Urban Design & Landscaping Summit aiming for the ultimate goal of “Promoting greener, healthier and more sustainable built environments with best practices in urban design and landscaping”. This particular summit is taking place as a part of the Urban Design & Landscaping Expo (UDLE), which is a new event dedicated to growing in outdoor, public spaces. Taking place at the Dubai World Trade Centre, this summit will ultimately bring together landscape architects, municipalities, urban designers, property developers, parks and resorts, so that they may focus on overcoming obstacles to a greener, urban region.

This year’s Big 5, the leading construction expo of the Middle East, has been a major success, with the most promising of construction related tech innovations on show at the Dubai World Trade Centre this past November. The future of construction is becoming more and more clear as industry professionals discover the most modernized products that promise to shake up the construction sector in the near future. The Big 5 ends with the most innovative Start-Up of the year being announced by way of a competition held on the last day of the event.

The HVAC R Expo, which took place recently this past November at the Dubai World Trade Centre and hosted over 200 exhibitors and 20 free CPD workshops, shed some informative light on the future of the GCC urban sector. According to the BNC Network, one of the HVAC R Expo intelligence partners, this sector accounts for 49% of the region’s 2.3 trillion dollar construction market with over 18,000 projects underway. The expo specifically highlighted how connected tech will be the key to achieving GCC sustainability targets through better climate management.

This year’s National Construction Week was a major success, drawing in over 13,000 participants from Kenya and around the world. The international expo featured the Big 5 Construct East Africa, held at the the Kenyatta International Convention Centre, and organized by dmg events. The week also featured the flagship International Construction Research Conference and Exhibition (ICoRCE), organized by the National Construction Authority.

The upcoming HVAC R Expo, taking place this November 26th through 29th, is the only event exclusively dedicated to the heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and refrigeration industry. This year’s first edition of the expo will run as part of The Big 5, which is the largest construction event in the Middle East, hosting more than 200 exhibitioners from around the world. Announced by the organizers of DMG Events, the event is set to take place at the Dubai World Trade Centre.

This year’s annual dealer meeting for Manitou, held in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, featured the unveiling of several new Manitou, Gehl, and Mustang by Manitou machines. With nearly 300 North American dealers in attendance, the meeting showed off new products for construction, agriculture, industry, and rental markets. All positioned for the North American market, products seen ranged from skid and track loaders to telehandlers and mobile elevated work platforms.

The National Construction Week series of events has been officially opened today at the Kenyatta International Conference Centre by Prof. Paul Maringa, Principal Secretary State Department of Public Works Designed to promote and uplift the construction industry in Kenya. The week brings together two major events, the International Construction Research Conference and Exhibition (ICoRCE) and The Big 5 Construct East Africa.

The Big 5 Solar event is returning this year after a successful launch edition in 2017. Making a comeback under the patronage of the Ministry of Energy & Industry, United Arab Emirates, the Big 5 Solar will display the latest in solar innovations and solutions from top brands for the construction industry at the Dubai World Trade Centre November 26th through 29th. The show will feature free access to industry leading education sessions and host the high-profile Global Solar Leaders’ Summit.

SIMA 2019 is only 5 months away, and over ninety-five percent of the available exhibition area is booked! This trade show seems to be breaking all the records, with 114 new companies signed up to exhibit, (up 40% from last year,) and with over a 12.5% rise in international exhibitors. SIMA is certainly proving itself as the essential trade event for farmers from all over the world.

Caterpillar will be presenting 30 machines, in addition to work tools, engines, and product support capabilities, at the upcoming bauma CHINA 2018 trade fair. Even more excitingly, the introduction of over a dozen Cat Next Generation hydraulic excavators will also be debuted for the first time. The show will also feature Cat general and building construction, paving, and SEM-branded equipment.
