We can only speak for ourselves, but the following press release from Caterpillar was one of the most exciting pieces of industry news we’ve seen in quite a while:
DEERFIELD, IL – Caterpillar Inc. (NYSE: CAT) today announced it will move its global headquarters to the company’s existing office in Irving, Texas, from its current location in Deerfield, Illinois.
“We believe it’s in the best strategic interest of the company to make this move, which supports Caterpillar’s strategy for profitable growth as we help our customers build a better, more sustainable world,” said Chairman and CEO Jim Umpleby.
Caterpillar has had a presence in Texas since the 1960s across several areas of the company. Illinois remains the largest concentration of Caterpillar employees anywhere in the world.
The company will begin transitioning its headquarters to Irving in 2022.
We know what it is like to pull up stakes and move to the Lone Star State. My Little Salesman was originally headquartered in Eugene, Oregon. The company headquarters was moved to Austin, Texas in 2009. All operations in Oregon were moved to Texas by 2013. We haven’t looked back since.
The entire My Little Salesman would like to welcome you home to the Lone Star State. We think you’ll love it here.
Here are a few other things we think you’ll love about Texas:
Nachos
Texas is known for its world-renowned nachos. Whether you want them topped high in your favorite meats and cheeses or you prefer your nachos completely vegan, Texas has you covered.
The Greenway Trails
Enjoy hiking, running, or mountain biking trails? There’s no better way to enjoy Texas's great outdoors than the Howard W. Peak Greenway Trail System. Traverse over 80 miles of trails to find all sorts new discoveries…including yourself? (Whoa, that was deep.)
Scuba Diving in a Natural Spring?
Enjoy taking a dip in clear, natural water? How about scuba diving? Well, at the Balmorhea State Park in Toyahvale, Texas, bring your snorkeling or scuba gear to explore the naturally chilled and crystal clear waters of the San Solomon Springs.
“Houston, We Have a Space Center”
Let your imagination soar past our atmosphere at the Space Center Houston. Visitors of all ages and backgrounds can enjoy dozens of out-out-this-world exhibits, and space artifacts positioned all over the sprawling 250,000-square-foot facility.
Austin, Texas
We’d be kicking ourselves if we didn’t mention our own home city of Austin, Texas. More than the state capital and home of the University of Texas, Austin is one of the most unique cities in the world. Hundreds of thousands from over 100 countries swarm to Austin for South by Southwest (SXSW)—one of the largest convergences of creativity and business (film, music, art, tech, you name it) in the world. The city is also known as the live music capital of the world. And if you don’t go for that, hey, there’s always Stubb’s Bar-B-Q…though they also have live music. If only we could get a professional sports team!
Again, welcome!
Sincerely,
- Your Friends from My Little Salesman
