If you're in the market for a new luxury pickup truck, then you may want to wait until this fall for the new 2018
Ram Limited Tungsten trim line, which will be introduced on the Ram 1500, Ram 2500 and Ram 3500 single- and dual-rear-wheel; Crew Cab and Mega Cab (Heavy Duty); four-wheel drive and two-wheel drive; and short- and long-wheelbase models. The Tungsten will be a notch up from the Limited trim.
The luxury truck segment has grown significantly in the past nine years and Ram their own numbers prove it--more than 40 percent of the Ram 3500 Heavy Duty sales is in one of the brand’s three luxury trims. They want more from this market and the 2018 Ram Limited Tungsten Edition definitively showcases their efforts. Dodge says they've been meticulous with each and every detail and built the entire truck with quality materials.
Let us begin.
Why Tungsten?
Tungsten is considered a rare metal and known as one of the toughest things found in nature. The dense, heavy metal has the highest melting point of all the elements and is harder than steel. Thus, Dodge went with this rare and exquisite metal to describe Ram’s highest trim.
Interior Features
The seats, headliner and trim all receive an upgrade in the new Tungsten Edition. Light Greystone suede headliner and ultra-premium "Natura Plus" Frost and Indigo-colored premium leather permeate throughout the cabin, including the seats, instrument panel, steering wheel, center arm rest and doors. The carpet is carpet Indigo-colored with rubber floormats and snap-out Frost and Indigo carpeted inserts, while Ram claims they are presenting the truck industry’s first suede headliner. Lastly, the interior features genuine wood interior components and presents unique badges.
Exterior Upgrades
The body of this premium truck features a Tungsten Chrome grille with large R-A-M lettering, Tungsten Chrome accents and badging, and Satin-painted Limited wheels. Headlamps feature a Black surround borrowed from the Sport model. Across the back, body-color "R-A-M" letters cover the tailgate. The Ram 1500 Tungsten Edition will have an optional sport hood that matches the bumpers, mirrors, door handles and running boards.
Technology
Dodge didn't forget about technology with this new premium truck and included the same features in premium-priced cars and SUVs. The Ram Limited Tungsten features an 8.4-inch Uconnect radio display with navigation system, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto and SiriusXM Guardian. Additionally, the Tungsten will be equipped with remote start, backup camera, power adjustable pedals with memory, heated steering wheel, front ventilated and heated seats, heated rear seats and RamBox (Heavy Duty, 6-foot, 4-inch bed only).
Colors
The 2018 Ram Limited Tungsten is available in the following colors: Bright Silver Metallic, Bright White, Brilliant Black Crystal, Delmonico Red Pearl, Granite Crystal Metallic, Maximum Steel Metallic (1500 only), Pearl White and True Blue Pearl.
So, how much will all of these new features and new trim set you back, you ask?
The new Limited Tungsten Edition on a Ram 1500 body will MSRP at $55,120 (not including $1,395 destination).
