Established in 1957 by Joseph “Rocky” Rokoszewski and Lee Philips, R&L Diesel Service, Inc. is a full service dealer of Detroit Diesel Engines for California’s Central Valley and beyond. Rocky and Lee had more courage than money when they founded R&L Diesel in a 50 X 50 foot truck stall they rented from Ivers Transportation Company at 2417 West Lane in 1957. Rocky had been a shop foreman for Moore Equipment Company of Stockton and Lee formerly manager of the same firm sealed their partnership with a handshake. In 1976 Lee Philips retired, and Rocky’s son Joseph P. Rokoszewski “The Rock” took over the run of the business. And after fifty years, R&L Diesel’s reputation for quality workmanship with competitive prices continues to this day by manager Joseph “Joey” Rokoszewski. Possessing a team of professionals, some who have been employees for over twenty-five years, R&L provides the type of consistency of excellence that brings back satisfied customers and establishes long lasting business relationships. Each member brings an integral skill set to the R&L team. Our customer base from the past five decades has included such top names as Walt Disney and Julie Andrews along with Union Pacific Railroad, General Mills, and the Monterey Bay Aquarium. Working together as a three generation family business also evokes a sense of pride and determination to sustain exemplary customer service. We are proud of our legacy and want to see it thrive. Another constant has been the emphasis on updating with the latest tools and equipment brought forth from the Detroit Diesel Corporation.
