John Deere Releases the TimberOffice Data Transfer App

The new smartphone app can transfer data from forestry machines to the home office.

John Deere TimberOffice
The new TimberOffice Data Transfer (TODT) mobile application by John Deere will allow users to transfer data such as work and production statistics from forestry machines back to the home office, even when little or no cellular service is available. The application, available for iOS and Android, is currently in market for cut-to-length forestry machines.

The TODT application, developed exclusively for John Deere customers, requires users to plug a TODT Wi-Fi device into their TimberMatic measuring and control system, creating a connection between the app and the machine. Once the connection is established, data is transferred to the mobile device with a single touch. When a mobile network is available, the TODT app automatically sends selected data to pre-assigned emails or production management systems, without requiring the user to go back into the app.

"We wanted to provide a solution that allows users to easily transfer the data they need to successfully manage their business -- even when working outside of cellular service. TimberOffice Data Transfer turns a smartphone into a temporary storage device that automatically transfers the data when cellular connectivity is reestablished."
- Matt Flood, John Deere ForestSight Product Manager.
