The Toro Company recently announced that they will be acquiring privately-held The Charles Machine Works, Inc. for $700 million in cash, subject to specific adjustments set forth under the definitive agreement. The Charles Machine Works, Inc. corporation is an Oklahoma parent company of many leading brands in the underground construction market, including Ditch Witch. While the transaction is still subject to customary closing conditions and regulatory approvals, the deal should be closed before the end of Toro’s third fiscal quarter of 2019.

The new Ditch Witch AT40 All Terrain horizontal directional drill (HDD) excels while drilling and steering in hard rock. Ditch Witch has inked a new partnership with Utilicor Technologies to bring the benefits of advanced keyhole technology and reinstatement to contractors, municipalities and utilities. The two organizations developed the Utilicor MTC100 coring attachment, which works exclusively with the SK line of mini skid steers and is the first product entry into the coring market for Ditch Witch. Keyhole coring has proven itself to be a less-costly, safer and less-disruptive approach to underground roadway and sidewalk utility repairs than traditional, large excavation techniques.
