When Do You Need Mining Trucks?
Off highway trucks are designed to haul large quantities of ores, minerals and other materials across mine sites, and to haul large quantities of stone and other similar building materials through quarries. Though they are technically a variation of dump trucks, off highway trucks have little in common with the traditional dump truck design, opting for an even heavier build that requires hardened surfaces to keep from sinking. Off highway trucks are otherwise known as mining trucks, haul trucks or rigid trucks due to their non-articulated builds.
Different Types of Right Haul Trucks
Sometimes all off highway trucks are mistakenly categorized together as haul trucks, but this term actually refers to mining trucks with a larger design. Haul trucks are meant to carry between 36 to 450 tons of materials.
Smaller trucks, sometimes called quarry trucks, are meant to handle between 40 to 100 tons. In general, quarries are not as large as mining operations, and therefore do not need larger trucks.
