When Do You Need a Crushing Plant?
Also known as a portable crusher, crushing plants flatten everything from general waste and building materials to extremely dense ores and minerals. A crushing plant is required for the first step of mineral processing where the ore must be crushed into smaller pieces so that the minerals can later be extracted. Portable crushers are also used in the production of cement, sand and various stones, and for general waste management purposes.
The Different Types of Crushers
There are many different types of crushes, including – but not limited to – the following:
- Jaw Crushers – Two heavy plates are used to crush ore in the first stage of mineral processing.
- Gyratory Crushers – A grinding head in an industrial sleeve can also be used in the primary stage of mineral processing instead of a jaw crusher.
- Cone Crushers – Similar to a gyratory crusher, but with a shortened spindle. Ore is crushed multiple times as it falls down the sleeve.
- Roll Crusher – A crusher that uses compression to get the job done.
- Impact Crusher – A crusher that pulverizes metallic ores, seeds, or coal inside of a cage.
- Vertical Shaft – Can bust materials into even cubes.
- Horizontal Shaft – Hammers bust the materials into uneven shapes.
- Cement Crusher – These crushing plants crush raw minerals such as limestone, clay, iron ore and coal so that they can be processed into cement.
