Our founder Stephen grew up around the construction equipment business, his grandfather W.B. Post ran a 1932 Caterpillar #11 Auto Motor Grader in San Bernardino Calif. He graded the roads around Desert Center for General George Patton’s Tank training grounds before WWII.

Stephen’s dad, Lee Thompson, built most of the Industrial Asphalt hot plants in the Southern Calif. Area and was part owner of  TMP Grading  in the 1960 in Orange County.
Growing up in Huntington Beach, Stephen would chase grading stakes for his uncle’s paving & grading company, Mark Co.  to earn money through high school. He worked for several construction companies: All American Asphalt and Penhall Co. while he and his wife, Denise, of 45 years started their large family of six children and later in life, 15 grandkids.
    
After working in the construction industry for 10 yrs. or so, Stephen decided to go to work in the construction equipment industry.  Starting out with Riverside Ford Tractor selling backhoes and skip loaders  , he then switched to the rental side of equipment, going to work for Western Sales and Rentals, which had just acquired the Mitsubishi Excavators and Sakai compaction lines of equipment.  Working in the rental end of the industry gave Stephen a lot of exposure to the new Mitsubishi  excavators being introduced into the Southern Calif. Market. 
Stephen soon moved over to Johnson Machinery Rentals where Caterpillar had just picked up the Mitsubishi line of Excavators and was selling them under the Caterpillar name. After spending four years at Caterpillar, Stephen moved over to several other companies selling Samsung, excavators and wheel loaders.   Finally, settling in on the Used Mining and Heavy Equipment Sales, he has spent the last 12 years providing Southern California with Excellent service, good quality equipment, clean titles, and customer follow up.  

Service and Follow up are  very important to S&D Equipment Sales. There has to be something that sets you apart from the Big Dealers , and those are the qualities that will do it, so provide your customers with great service , and make sure you always follow up.
