Find the Right Corn Head
Corn heads attach to combine harvesters and are specifically designed to shuck the stalk and leaf away so that the ear and husk go into the feeder. My Little Salesman is proud to list top brands of corn headers for sale such as Calmer, Drago, and John Deere corn heads.
Corn Header Specifications
Up until fairly recently, corn heads were made by the same manufacturers that made the combine and did not have many variations. In today’s market, however, the average farmer has many different specifications and features to keep track of. Here is what you need to know when looking at corn heads for sale:
- Weight – Corn headers tend to be on the heavy side, and this may require an upgrade to your combine’s hydraulic system as well as sturdier tires to support the added weight.
- Adapter kits – These kits let you adjust the angle of your corn headers so that you can harvest corn at an appropriate degree.
- Transporting – Corn headers can be tough to transport due to their large size. Sometimes John Deere corn head models and Drago corn models (as well as Calmer corn heads) can hydraulically fold in so that you don’t have to take them off during transportation.
- Row Spacing – Some farmers like to grow their corn in narrow rows because they feel it’s faster and more efficient. Calmer corn heads are particularly designed for handling narrow rows because their president, Marion Calmer, invented the concept of narrow row planting in 1995.
